The turbulent years between the 1918 revolution and the national socialists’ seizure of power were marked by fierce political disputes, demonstrations and strikes. Heilbronn was no exception.

The man on the street was hardest hit by the economic turmoil of these years. As the 1923 inflation pushed up prices, savings were lost, as were jobs after the crisis in 1929. Large segments of the population were left impoverished.
