In April 1525 the peasants living in the villages around Heilbronn joined forces. In the South of Germany the peasants fought for the “Twelve Articles of Peasantry” calling for a return to “ancient custom” and a life in accordance with the gospel.
In the Heilbronn area, this part of history came to a gruesome and unpleasant end as Jäklein Rorbach, Böckingen’s peasant leader, was burnt alive and the Heilbronn villages of Flein and Böckingen were pillaged and burnt to the ground.
